Spine Experts Receive Award
Paul C. McAfee, MD, Ira L. Fedder, MD and Bryan Cunningham, M. Mech. Eng. won the Outstanding Paper of the Year Award from the North American Spine Society for "Osteogenic Protein (OP-1) in Posterolateral Fusions of the Lumbar Spine.

Foot and Ankle Expert on Channel 13
Dr. Jeffrey Brodie appeared on WJZ-TV to discuss an exciting advance in orthopaedics, ankle replacement surgery. Hip and knee replacements are very common, but it has only been recently that ankle replacement surgery has been perfected to allow a successful outcome. Dr. Brodie is one of only a few orthopaedic surgeons nationwide who has undergone extensive training in this technique.

Joint Replacement News
Dr. David Dalury and Dr. Stuart Winakur also appeared on WJZ-TV to discuss joint replacement surgery. Dr. Winakur and patient Helen Heim were interviewed about how her life has improved since having bilateral (right and left) hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery. Mrs. Heim told WJZ-TV that the surgery, by Dr. Winakur, has given her freedom from pain and improved her ability to enjoy life.

Dr. Dalury was featured on WJZ-TV in an educational story on the advances in joint replacement surgery and the new Orthopaedic Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Dalury and the physicians at the Orthopaedic Institute at St. Joseph Medical Center perform more orthopaedic procedures than orthopaedic surgeons at any other hospital in the area.


They have one of the top joint replacement programs in the state, winning three separate awards for outstanding quality of care provided to their patients.

Ravens Radio and Sports Medicine
You may have heard John Lopez, ATC, during the Ravens season discussing sports injuries. Lopez, Director of Towson Sports Medicine appeared weekly on WJFK with Bruce Laird and Tom Matte and WCBM with Ted Patterson to discuss sports injury topics.

Oh, Those Aching Feet
David Barringer, PT, ATC was a guest on FOX45 News to discuss proper shoe selection, especially during the holiday season. During the live interview Barringer gave exercise tips to relieve foot pain as well as offered shoe options for business and fitness.

Hitting the Pavement for Arthritis and Heart Disease
Orthopaedic Associates, Towson Sports Medicine Center and The Women's Sports Medicine Center sponsored two popular races recently. The Arthritis Foundation's annual Jingle Bell Run and Avon's fall 5K. The races drew more than 5,000 participants.


Dear Dr. Brodie:
Just a note to express my deep appreciation for you going to bat so I could receive a Roll-A-Bout. Trying on my own didn't help but your help did. I truly appreciate your help. If all doctors were more like you, all patients would care more about their recovery, and want to get better.
