Publicity for Disk Replacement Study
The new disk replacement technique studied by back specialists Drs. Paul McAfee and Ira Fedder received publicity by Baltimore television stations and newspapers. Local stations to feature their work in this important area were; WMAR-TV (Channel 2), WBFF-TV (Channel 45), WBAL-TV (Channel 11), and WJZ-TV (Channel 13). Several newspapers also focused attention on the study: The Baltimore Sun, The Catholic Review, and The Baltimore Business Journal.

Youth Sports Injuries
Dr. Teri Metcalf McCambridge was interviewed by Baltimore Sun reporter Elizabeth Large for a feature on adolescent sports injuries. Dr. McCambridge's patient Meg Garner was also interviewed for the story.

Baltimore Magazine Names Top Docs
Paul C. McAfee, M.D. and David F. Dalury, M.D. have been named to Baltimore Magazine's list of Baltimore's best doctors. The special issue is published every two years and recognizes physicians for their excellence in patient care. Dr. McAfee is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery and Dr. Dalury is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgery. Both physicians have been featured in previous issues of Baltimore Magazine's Top Docs along with other physicians at Orthopaedic Associates.

Exercising with Diabetes
Dr. Teri Metcalf McCambridge and certified athletic trainer Rachel Colby authored an article titled: Exercising with Type 1 Diabetes, which was published in the August issue of Your Patient and Fitness. The six-page feature outlined guidelines for safe and healthy fitness for patients with Type 1 Diabetes. The article helps physicians diagnose the condition and prescribe an exercise program that will benefit patients psychologically and physically. Exercise, it recommends, is an important component of the treatment strategy for all individuals with diabetes.

Headquarters for High School Physicals
Towson Sports Medicine staff provided preseason sports participation physicals for area high school athletes. Athletes from schools in the Baltimore area took advantage of the convenient service during several designated dates this summer. Towson Sports Medicine has been providing sports participation screenings to area athletes for more than 15 years as a part of their High School Outreach Program.
