Jenny Testrake

Patient Spotlight

Jenny Testrake handles each challenge that is handed to her with the determination of a true champion.

Two severe injuries, a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a fractured kneecap in the same knee, in less than five months, could have forced many top athletes to retire their competitive dreams. But the Loyola College women's lacrosse starter knew how to attack the recovery from her injuries. "I was very intense and focused on what I had to do," said Testrake, "just like lacrosse."

Jenny's knee surgeries were performed by Dr. Frank J. Catanzariti, an orthopaedic surgeon at Orthopaedic Associates. Her next year was spent doing rehab at Towson Sports Medicine Center. "I was in Towson Sports Medicine forever," remembered Testrake. "I got to know the patients and knew what each person was going through." Testrake credits the staff for not only her physical, but mental recovery too. "Dr. Catanzariti and Dave Barringer, my physical therapist, really understood what I was going through," said Testrake. "They helped me get to the level I wanted to go both mentally and physically. The TSM staff was also great. They always knew what to say and do."

Not only did Jenny fully recover from her injuries but she took her team to the NCAA Division I Final Four this past spring. Now her sights are set on returning to the Final Four.

Physical therapist Dave Barringer will not be surprised if she does it."Her perseverance and sense of purpose are amazing," said Barringer. "She successfully reaches every goal she sets. She is a remarkable patient."

Orthopaedic Associates is proud to announce the opening of the first Center in Maryland committed to the overall health, fitness and well being of the female athlete - any age, any competitive level. Learn more about The Women's Sports Medicine Center on page two.
